The alarm rang but never asked me to do anything
The system-level alarm needs iOS 26. On earlier versions PureU falls back to a notification-based alarm, which iOS will not let any app take over the lock screen with. Open PureU after the alarm fires and the mission will be waiting.
If you are on iOS 26 and still see this, check Settings → PureU → Alarms is allowed.
I silenced the alarm from the lock screen. Did that count?
No, and PureU will say so. iOS forces every alarm to carry a stop button and we cannot remove it. If you stop the alarm without completing the mission, PureU records the morning as a miss a few hours later and your streak breaks. That is deliberate — an alarm you can silence for free is not an alarm.
Blocking is not working / the apps still open
App blocking needs two things, and it is almost always the second one that is missing:
- Screen Time authorization — granted the first time you open the Focus tab
- An app selection made in Apple's picker, which PureU opens for you
Each mode keeps its own selection, so picking apps for Earn does not fill in Hard Block. Open Focus, switch to the mode you want, and check the selection there.
My apps are still shielded and I want them back
A hard block lifts on its own when the window you set expires, even if you force-quit PureU. If something has gone wrong, open PureU — it reconciles the shield on launch and drops any block whose time has passed. Turning off Screen Time authorization in Settings → Screen Time also clears it immediately.
The camera will not accept my mission
Rep missions need enough light to see you and enough room for the movement to register. Photo missions look for the specific object the mission named — a clear glass of water reads far better than a bottle. Everything is judged on your device, so a poor connection is never the cause.
If the camera is unavailable or you declined access, rep missions fall back to counting with the motion sensor.
How do I start over?
You tab → Reset app data. It clears your streak, history, schedule and app selections, and releases any shield that is active. It cannot be undone.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your phone. PureU has no account and no server, sends no analytics, and never uploads camera frames. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
Does PureU cost anything?
This release is free, with no in-app purchase. If that changes, it will be announced in the app before it happens.
